The Beginning...
The Missionary Baptist Boys to Men Ministry is a ministry that came about as a result of a need I saw in my own life. I grew up without my father in the home; as a matter of fact I have never met or even seen a picture of my father. I never really considered the impact of not having a relationship with my father had on me as a boy, man, husband and father. But after coming to know the Lord as my Savior in 1998 the Lord began to show me just how much not having a Godly father or male role model impacted my life. As a boy it left an indelible mark that would impact every aspect of my life, as a man it left me with questions of my value and worth, as a husband it left me with a distorted view of my purpose and role in my marriage, as a father it left me confused about what my children desired and needed from me most. Thank you Lord for bringing faithful men into my life who began to leave new marks in my life and helped me to grow spiritually. As I grew and matured I began to recognize the marks I was leaving in the lives of my wife and children. My children, especially began to reflect my growth. As God used faithful men to help shape and mold me I began to have a more Godly impact in the lives of my wife, children and the lives of others around me. The Lord began to use me as He had used other Godly men. The M.B.B.M Ministry is designed in such a way as to include every male in the Lord’s New Testament church. The reason we encourage and emphasize intentionally ministering to boys and men of all ages in the Lord’s New Testament church is because this is God’s Plan For Leadership. From Genesis to Revelation we see that God has a divine plan and that plan includes a very specific leadership structure. The Lord started with a man in the garden when He established the family and He started with twelve men in Israel when He established His New Testament church. The name, Missionary Baptist Boys To Men Ministry, answers the question, to whom are we intentionally ministering? The intentional effort to train, build up and strengthen boys and men as leaders has a fare reaching impact. It will impact relationships in marriages, families and churches. As boys and men begin to fulfill their God given roles as leaders they will have a godly impact on their wives, children and the Lord’s New Testament church. This is exactly what happened in the book of Acts. After the Lord trained, built up and strengthened those twelve men scriptures say that they turned the world upside down. I am fully convinced it can happen again. If God’s men today will commit their lives to Him as those men did indeed it can happen again…. The Structure…
The name M.B.B.M Ministry identifies to whom we minister, the how we minister can be seen in the term Ironman Fellowship. At the heart of the M.B.B.M. Ministry is the concept of fellowship. The term Ironman comes from the famous Ironman World Championship that takes place in Hawaii. It began as a challenge between Navy Seals in 1978. It was a challenge to determine physical fitness in three areas, running, swimming, and cycling. It is from this physical example that we draw a spiritual application. As a member of the Lord’s New Testament church we are called to be soldier of Christ. The Ironman Fellowship concept is about challenging God’s men to spiritual fitness by focusing on three core principles. Those principles are discussed in details in the Principles section. As Godly men spend more and more time in the Word of God, the Word of God has an impact on them and their lives begin to be transformed. As their lives are transformed and they spend more and more time with other men they begin to have an impact in the lives of those men. As those men then begin to spend time in the Word of God their lives begin also to be transformed. What we have is a challenge to spiritual fitness. This concept of men impacting men through fellowship with one another and the Word is clearly illustrated in the word of God. 1 John 1:3 and Prov. 27:17 form the frame work from which we intentionally minister to the boys and men in the Lord’s New Testament church… The Impact…
The M.B.B.M. Ministry has had a tremendous impact in my life and in the lives of other men. However this impact is just the beginning. The Lord continues to teach me over and over again what happens when you do it the way God designed it. For many years in this country godly masculinity has been under attack. As a result so many of God’s men are living distracted and defeated lives and there is a great need to strengthen and encourage men to live the abundant and victorious lives He has intended. Just as one man, transformed by the power of God’s word can have an impact in the lives of other men I believe that a group of men from one New Testament church having been transformed by the word of God can have a positive impact on men from other New Testament churches. This is why I believe it is so important for each and every one of the Lord’s churches to intentionally minister to boys and men. It is my desire to share with our sister churches what I believe is a sound approach to meeting this great need. As men begin to fulfill their God given roles of leadership in each of His New Testament churches I believe we will begin to see true revival and souls being saved and added to the Lord's New Testament churches…
